The Somerset Cricket Foundation in partnership with Richard Huish College have opened up for applicants to join the Cricket Academy for the 2021/22 academic year. The programme combines further education studies at Richard Huish College with a professionally delivered cricket programme based at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton. More information on the academy can be found here.

Several players who have been part of the College Cricket Academy have gone on to represent Somerset at 2nd X1 level. In a recent 2nd X1 fixture Alfie Ogborne, Max Horton & Max Toohey (having spent time in Australia since leaving Huish) have played in the four day 2nd X1 competition. Earlier in 2021, Hugo Whitlock (who left Richard Huish college in 2015) has been excelling for Oxford University & Devon and was rewarded with selection for a Somerset 2nd X1 fixture. James Hayes who has also spent a winter in Australia is currently doing great things for Nottinghamshire 2nd X1 and has been offered an extended trial for the 2021 summer. We wish him and all the others well in the forthcoming weeks.
