Walkers & Talkers launch 6-month pilot with Somerset Cricket Foundation in 2023

Walkers & Talkers are delighted to announce a partnership with Somerset Cricket Foundation to deliver a 6-month pilot at the Coopers Associates County Ground in Taunton starting on Tuesday 7th March 2023.

After experiencing the wellbeing benefits of regularly connecting and walking with friends in Bristol, ex-Gloucestershire CCC wicketkeeper Andy Brassington set up Walkers & Talkers in 2021 with an intention to support local community connection and reduce the feelings of loneliness and social isolation felt by so many.

Throughout 2022, Walkers & Talkers has been a free regular Wednesday morning fixture in Bristol for individuals to come together to walk, to talk and to listen to a Q&A with a local sports personality.

The speaker list has included local sports personalities such as Syd Lawrence, Fran Wilson and Jon Lewis (cricket), Gareth Chilcott and Kevin Maggs (rugby), Ian Holloway (football) and Glen Catley (boxing).

The free to attend, 6-month pilot with Somerset Cricket Foundation will take place once-a-month from March through to August.

  • Tuesday 7 March, 10am – 12noon (Venue: Stragglers)
  • Tuesday 4 April, 10am – 12noon (1875 Club)
  • Tuesday 2 May, 10am – 12noon (1875 Club)
  • Thursday 1 June, 10am – 12noon (1875 Club)
  • Tuesday 4 July, 10am – 12noon (1875 Club)
  • Provisional: Tuesday 1 August, 10am – 12noon (1875 Club)

After meeting for a complimentary coffee at 10am, and a gentle stroll around the ground, there will be a one-hour Q&A with a local sports personality from 11-12noon; the 2023 speaker list will be announced in mid-January.
