Somerset Disabled CC Super 9s started their 2026 season with a 6-wicket victory over Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation at Ilton CC on Sunday.

On a scorching afternoon at the Childs Clarke Ground, Somerset won the toss and elected to field first. Early pressure from Tom Haddell and Cameron Harris quickly paid off, with Harris striking in the second over to remove Charlie Brewer and leave Gloucestershire 8 for 1. ()

Somerset’s bowlers continued to build pressure throughout the innings. Sebastian Menko impressed with two wickets, both aided by excellent wicketkeeping from George Fox-Reid behind the stumps. Mark Lyons also chipped in with a smart caught-and-bowled dismissal before Kris Martin produced a brilliant late spell, claiming 3 wickets for just 3 runs from 1.3 overs.

Gloucestershire finished on 142 for 8 from their 30 overs, with Somerset showing excellent discipline and teamwork in difficult hot conditions.

In reply, Somerset’s chase began steadily before Gloucestershire struck twice in the fourth over to reduce the hosts to 25 for 2. George Fox-Reid responded positively, playing an attacking innings of 25 from 40 balls, including five boundaries, to help move Somerset towards the target.

With Somerset needing 33 runs from the final stages of the innings, Cameron Harris arrived at the crease and completely changed the momentum of the game. Harris blasted an unbeaten 28 from just 10 balls, striking four boundaries and two sixes to seal victory in emphatic fashion as Somerset reached 148 for 4 in 22.5 overs.

The win marks a fantastic start to the season for Somerset Super 9s, with strong performances across both batting and bowling alongside an excellent team effort in challenging temperatures.
