To celebrate the end of the Kia Super league, a women’s soft ball festival was planned to take place prior to the Western Storm taking on the Yorkshire Diamonds. Unfortunately the wrong kind of storm meant the festival was rained off! However, 12 teams from the counties making up the Western Storm were still invited to play in the Indoor school at the Cooper Associates County Ground and then enjoy afternoon tea in the County Room before watching the penultimate Western Storm fixture.
The teams were treated to a Q and A from Clare Connor (ECB Managing Director of Women’s Cricket), Will Brown (Chief Executive of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club) from GCCC, Lisa Padgett (Western Storm General Manager) and then the Western Storm players joined for some photographs and to mingle with the teams.
It was a fantastic day, great to see the women’s teams enjoying themselves and having fun, which is what we want cricket to be about.
