Somerset Disabled CC Edged Out in Tense Finish Against Dorset
Somerset Disabled CC were narrowly beaten by Dorset Cricket Disability S9s in a thrilling contest at Blandford CC, with the match going right down to the wire.
Batting first, Somerset posted a competitive 220-7 from their 30 overs, with Dexter leading the way with an excellent 48, supported by George with 24, Tom with 20 and unbeaten contributions from Joshua (16) and Julian (10).
In reply, Dorset looked in control for much of their innings, with Tom making an unbeaten 59 and Joshua scoring 53. However, Somerset kept battling and continued to take wickets to keep the pressure on.
With the game heading into the final over, the tension was building. Somerset needed to find a way to stop Dorset from reaching their target, and Josh stepped up to take responsibility for bowling the last over.
It was a hugely tense finish, with every ball carrying extra pressure as Somerset fought to keep themselves in the contest. Unfortunately, Dorset eventually reached 221-4 with just one ball remaining, securing a narrow five-wicket victory.
It was a fantastic effort from Somerset, who pushed the game all the way and never gave up. A special well done to Josh for stepping up and taking on the responsibility of bowling the final over when the pressure was at its highest.
Despite the result, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance, and the team can be proud of the way they competed right until the very end.
