Over the past year, and with the continued support of our programme partners and funders, Somerset Cricket Foundation has been able to deliver over 1,600 hours of coaching in more than 160 primary, secondary and special education needs (SEN) schools across the county.

Thurlbear CE VA Primary School, near Taunton, and Hans Price Academy in Weston-super-Mare are just two schools who have recently participated in a 6 week school programme – delivered by our experienced community coaches – which places an emphasis on having a great cricketing experience as well as developing life skills.

With the support of Chance to Shine, ECB and the Lords Taverners, the Foundation is able to engage with over 16,500 young people each year and enables ours community coaches Thom, Tilly, Karla, Sean and Dom to deliver exciting cricket activities that cater for students of all ages and abilities, as well as providing leadership opportunities.

Thanks to Thom for his enthusiasm, energy and professionalism. We have had some great sessions with him!

Hans Price Academy are just one of the schools participating in the ECB’s Secondary School Girls Programme.

In addition to offering coaching within primary, secondary and SEN schools, the Foundation can offer schools free teacher training / CPD to fit each school’s needs. This training can run for 1-3 hours and can take place during an inset day, staff meeting, twilight or at any time convenient to the school.

It’s been a fantastic opportunity for our Year 8’s to learn a different sport that we don’t traditionally teach in the summer. I’ve also been able to learn new activites and drills to incorporate into my other lessons.
