In September 2022,  Somerset Cricket Foundation secured funding through the Discovery Fund to employ an Adult Disability Cricket Officer.  The role of the Officer is to deliver cricket,  develop workforce, engage with cricket clubs, provide life skill opportunities, and create competition.

For the past five weeks, with support from LV’s #Funds4Runs, we have been working with Yeovil College and their sports students to provide opportunities for The Hub, in Yeovil, and their learners.

The journey started with the College students receiving Table Cricket and inclusive cricket training, before they planned and then delivered a series of inclusive cricket sessions to The Hub, with support of our Adult Disability Officer.

Take a look at this short video to see the impact we are having.

The project is in its infancy, and we are keen to develop its outcomes in partnership with Day Service Providers.  This year and next, we hope to work with nine adult service providers with a view of linking them to their local cricket club.  We will have two levels of engagement for local cricket clubs to support our work.  At the most intensive level we are seeking cricket clubs to provide inclusive cricket opportunities. At a less demanding level, we are seeking the use of cricket club facilities.

If you are a cricket club, Day Service Provider, community group or an adult with a disability and are keen to play cricket, we’d welcome your contact to see how we can engage with you.  Please email Emily.Vickery@Somersetcricketfoundation.org
