With the Access Sport team, Somerset Activity & Sports Partnership & Wesport we delivered an exciting and informative disability inclusion training session.  The training was aimed to support coaches and or activators to develop their awareness and confidence to deliver inclusive cricket activity, either as a discrete disability session, or to ensure that young players with additional needs are fully integrated as part of junior training or national programmes.

We want those who experienced the training to transmit the messages received throughout their club so that other coaches and activators have the confidence to make their sessions as inclusive as they can.

The training covered:

Disability awareness and theory, followed by practical applications, with tips and ideas to delivering fun and inclusive activities.

  • Current disability sport landscape
  • The Need
  • Medical vs. Social Model of Disability
  • Different Impairment Groups
  • The Inclusion Spectrum
  • STEP
  • Your Inclusive Activities
