#GETSETWEEKEND is designed to bring clubs and local communities closer together and ensure grounds and facilities are ready for the new season.

To mark the start of the 2023 season, we are excited to announce a #GetSetWeekend on the 1st and 2nd April so the network can start preparations for what promises to be an exciting season.

The #GetSetWeekend and all of recreational cricket is powered by the Cricket Collective: the volunteers who drive and deliver all areas of the sport. To celebrate and recognise the contribution of the Cricket Collective, this year we are asking clubs to share estimates of how many volunteers will attend their #GetSetWeekend events and the duration of their activities. This information will help us monitor the vital role volunteers play across the recreational game and show our thanks throughout the season.

You may choose to run your #GetSetWeekend on a different weekend to the national initiative, which is fine.  The most important thing is that you use the idea of getting your club together as a means of completing key pre-season tasks and harnessing the benefits and impact of bringing your membership together in a sociable but productive way.

Assets to help promote the weekend are available on the ECB Resource Hub.

If done well your #GetSetWeekend will encourage cricket supporters, their friends, and families to give something back to their cricket club by volunteering to undertake small or large renovations to clubhouses and grounds. It is a great way to bring the club together and make sure that the club is ready for the new season. How large the project is does not matter, it’s about bringing the club together at the start of the season and finding new volunteers while carrying out jobs that are needed.

We encourage all clubs to register for the #GetSetWeekend and there are a number of incentives and prizes on offer for registered clubs to win.  Prizes include:

  • Prize 1: four (4) tickets to an International Game;
  • Prize 2: four (4) tickets to an International Game;

  • Prizes 4 to 19: two (2) tickets to a Hundred Game
