Gloucestershire Edge Thriller Against Somerset

Somerset were narrowly beaten by Gloucestershire in an entertaining and high-scoring pairs match, falling just seven runs short after a determined chase.

After losing the toss, Somerset were asked to field first. Gloucestershire made a positive start, with Reuben leading the way with an impressive unbeaten 28, well supported by Peter’s 24. Despite the strong batting display, Somerset continued to battle throughout the innings, taking wickets at key moments to prevent the visitors from pulling away completely.

Charlie was the standout performer with the ball, claiming two wickets in an economical spell, while Toby, Caleb and Ethan also picked up important wickets. Somerset’s fielding remained energetic throughout the 25 overs, but Gloucestershire eventually posted a challenging total of 308.

Needing a big batting performance, Somerset responded superbly. The innings was built around a series of excellent contributions, with Callum producing an outstanding unbeaten 19, Charlie matching that total with a fluent 19, and Caleb adding a valuable 16. Fin got the innings off to a confident start with 12, while Tom chipped in with 9 to keep the scoreboard moving.

Despite losing wickets during the middle overs, Somerset never allowed the required score to drift too far away. The batting order showed resilience and positive intent, capitalising on loose deliveries and running hard between the wickets to keep the contest alive until the very end.

As the final overs approached, Somerset mounted a thrilling late charge, but Gloucestershire held their nerve to secure a narrow 308-301 victory.
