Bridgwater Cricket Club was formed in 1925 and is a leading Premier League community cricket club which has been designated a focus club by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The main objective of Bridgwater Cricket Club is to promote the sport of cricket in Bridgwater and the wider Sedgemoor area. The club runs 4 senior Saturday teams, participating in the highest level possible within recreational cricket, Premier One of the West of England Premier League. The club also participates in 2 National Cup Competitions, and the Somerset Cricket Board Cups. The club has approximately 100 adult members, split roughly 50:50 between playing and non-playing.
The club runs one of the brightest female sections in the South West and participates in the South West Women’s League and the Somerset Women’s Cricket League. A number of the girls play in the clubs wider senior and youth teams, as well as representing Somerset at representative level, giving approximately 30 females the opportunity to play cricket in the area.
The club runs a vibrant youth section providing enjoyment and development for close to 100 junior members, participating in a range of competitions. This has been headed up by the under 19s who have been County Champions for the past three years.
Our youth, senior and ladies sections benefit by the expertise of qualified coaches, which has grown since the club were successful in its application for funding to appoint a Cricket Development Officer in 2017.
Hand in hand with the playing members, the club is abound with spectators – many of whom are elderly and who enjoy free, highly quality cricket on complimentary seating. On match days we would see up to 200 visitors to the club.
