Job Title: South Somerset Community Cricket Coach

Contract: Contract until August 2022 with view to extension (subject to funding)

Hours: Flexible, 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £18,000 to £19,500 per annum (depending on experience), plus expenses, laptop, phone allowance and pension

We are looking for a Community Coach to join our team to help drive cricket forward and inspire more people to experience cricket in South Somerset.

It is an exciting time to be involved in cricket following the 2019 Men’s World Cup win. 2020 is set to be just as exiting with the launch of The Hundred as well as Dynamos Cricket. There is a huge opportunity within Somerset to build on these events to get more children to say, ‘Cricket is a game for me’.

Together with Chance to Shine and South Somerset District Council we want to make cricket the sport of choice for people within South Somerset.

The post holder will support and develop the following areas:

  • Cricket delivery in primary and secondary schools
  • Transition of school children to All Stars and Dynamos Centres as well as club junior sections
  • Primary and secondary school competitions
  • Club junior sections
  • Community activities (eg. Super 1s, Walking Cricket)
  • South Somerset’s ‘Play Days’ and ‘School’s Out’ programmes

The successful candidate will be a Level 2 cricket coach (minimum) with the motivation and passion to inspire children, teachers and clubs within South Somerset. The role will involve a varied work programme with the opportunity to be involved in a number of exciting areas of the game.

In Somerset we are incredibly proud of the opportunities we offer schools and the relationships we have with them. The successful applicant will play an important role in continuing to build and develop these opportunities and to create more opportunities for schools to access.

The successful candidate will also be tasked with helping to support and develop our cricket clubs in South Somerset in order to leave a lasting legacy in the area.
