We are delighted to thank the Hinkley Point C Community Fund for its generous support in enabling us to deliver our Adult Disability Skills Festival at Wembdon Cricket Club.
The festival has been designed to provide adults with disabilities and additional needs with an opportunity to come together in a fun, welcoming, and inclusive environment. More than just a day of cricket, the event focuses on building confidence, creating friendships, and encouraging people to enjoy being active together.

Throughout the day, participants rotated around a series of engaging skill stations, where they will develop their batting, bowling, throwing, catching, and teamwork skills through games and activities tailored to suit a wide range of abilities. Every activity has been adapted to ensure everyone can take part, regardless of previous experience or ability, allowing participants to enjoy success and have fun at their own pace.
The festival concluded with a short, inclusive cricket game, giving everyone the opportunity to put their new skills into practice. The emphasis is firmly on participation, enjoyment, and celebrating everyone’s achievements.
Alongside the cricket, one of the key aims is to reduce isolation by creating opportunities for people to meet others, make new friends, and develop lasting social connections. Shared experiences through sport can have a powerful impact on confidence, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging, and we hope participants will leave not only with new cricket skills but also with new friendships and increased confidence to engage in their local community.
We are incredibly grateful to the Hinkley Point C Community Fund for making this event possible. Their investment in inclusive community activities helps create opportunities for adults with disabilities to be active, connected, and valued members of the community.
