Taunton Deane Cricket Club played host to a landmark occasion as Somerset Cricket Foundation held its first-ever Adult Disability Cricket Competition.
It was a fantastic morning of cricket, friendship and fun as four teams came together at Taunton Deane Cricket Club for what we hope will be the first of many adult disability cricket competitions.
While the event may have started small, with four teams taking part, it provided a brilliant opportunity for players to enjoy competitive cricket in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
There was plenty of cricket on show throughout the morning, but the event was about much more than what happened on the pitch. It provided an opportunity for participants to reconnect with old friends, meet new people and build new relationships through their shared love of cricket.
Congratulations to Ark!

A huge congratulations goes to Ark, who were crowned the winners of our inaugural competition.
The team produced some excellent cricket throughout the morning to take the title, but the competitive element was only one part of what made the event such a success.
The smiles, conversations and enthusiasm from players throughout the morning demonstrated the value of providing regular opportunities for adults with disabilities to take part in cricket and enjoy the social benefits that come with being part of a team and a wider cricket community.
Growing Adult Disability Cricket
The competition represents another step forward in the development of adult disability cricket across Somerset.
At Somerset Cricket Foundation, we want to ensure that cricket is accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of age, ability or previous experience. Competitions such as this provide players with the opportunity to test themselves in a competitive environment while also creating a social space where friendships and connections can grow.
Following the success of the inaugural event, we are already looking ahead to the next competition. The ambition is to build on the strong foundations established at Taunton Deane Cricket Club, attract more teams and players, and make future events bigger and even better.
We would like to thank everyone who took part, supported the players and helped make the morning such a positive experience. We are particularly grateful to Taunton Deane Cricket Club for providing the venue and helping us celebrate this important milestone for adult disability cricket.
