Lansdown Cricket Club had seen Walking Cricket as an initiative that ran across the County  and were keen to develop and launch a summer based club programme for some its senior members.   The club were lucky enough to have an inspired and keen volunteer to move things along and soon a Walking Cricket session was being advertised.

The group met every Wednesday at 11.15 am.  There have been seven sessions and the group has an average of 12 players who range in age from 44 to 80!

Impact

The sessions have had a great impact on members by helping forge new friendships as well helping to improve the fitness of some of the players.  Of course, the skill level has increased!   One player, following a long illness, has revealed that walking cricket has given him a ‘new lease of life’!  After the sessions, the group adjourn to the bar for drinks and some may stay for lunch. It is a very convivial social atmosphere.
