Maqbul players entertained Richard Huish Academy XI in a T20 developmental game at North Petherton CC on Wednesday 21st June.

Richard Huish Academy batted first and posted 147-8 in their allotted overs.

Gillett (41) and Hurry (22) led the way at the top order. Maqbul’s left arm seamer and Skipper Usama was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4-28 in his 5 overs and was well supported by another left armer Aurangzeb 2-26 and pace man Ishmatullah 2-29. Ishmatuallah also held four catches in the deep.

Maqbul set about their reply – scoring freely but also losing wicket freely.

Opener Sardar hit a breezy 18, then Ismatuallah followed with rapid 16 (four 4s) and YarGul with 16 (with two huge sixes into the pavilion).Senior pro Aziz hit a patient 19 knocking it around. Maqbul’s initial inning closed on 100 all out in the 15th over. Richard Huish Academy bowlers very kindly then bowled their full 20 overs and allowed a couple of the Maqbul batters to have a second hit and an adjusted challenge  – culminating in a final total of 138.

Another game played in the true of spirit of cricket and friendship. The Maqbul learnt a lot from this game to take forward to their next match.

Somerset Cricket Foundation would like to thank:
