North Petherton Cricket Club finall hosted the eagerly awaited game between Team Maqbul and Weston Warriors for an evening fixture on Thursday 17th August.
16 players were available from both teams, a T10 – 8 a side game was agreed.
Warrior’s guest player and skipper, Usama, won the toss and decided to bat. Warriors despite losing a wicket to the first ball of the game scored 58-5 and were indebted to opener Arpit who batted throughout the 10 overs and held the innings together.
In reply Watif’s Maqbul were well in contention to win the game after 8 overs they were 51-4 but the loss of two wickets meant they slipped 57-6 until the final over with two needed in the gathering gloom. Aadit bowled a brilliant over and supported by a dynamic ring of fielders only conceding one off the last ball resulting in an exciting tied game for the inaugural Maqbul Cup challenge.
The captains were presented with the Maqbul cup by North Petherton CC Chair – Bill Revans.
