Somerset Cricket Board, working in partnership with Somerset County Cricket Club, are delighted to be able share with you our new Player Pathway Plan.

The plan outlines a vision and strategy for the development of players across the region.

“All changes to the Pathway Programme for 2018/2019 will see an expansion in playing/development opportunities for players,” he said. “This will help deliver our vision and objectives. I am extremely excited to see how the players develop over the next twelve months.”

Matt Drakeley – Head of Performance, Somerset Cricket Board

“The Player Pathway Plan for 2018/2019 has been tailored to boys and girls separately to provide every individual with the best possible experience and give players the opportunity to develop and challenge themselves across the Winter training and Summer match play programmes.”

Andy Hurry – Director of Cricket, Somerset County Cricket Club

After a sizzling summer of cricket, this week marks the start of the 2018/19 Player Pathway Programme. Over 600 young cricketers who have been nominated by clubs and schools across Somerset will attend assessments at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton and Downside School, Radstock, vying for a place on our Winter Training Programme.

“For over 600 young players to be nominated in our County just goes to show the hard work that clubs and schools are putting in to support their players. The players have earned the right to be put forward and we are really excited about seeing everyone in action.”

Andy Fairbairn – Executive Director, Somerset Cricket Board

“I’m really looking forward to what the upcoming Winter Training Programme and Summer Playing Programme holds for our Pathway players. It’s an exciting time to be involved in the women’s game and we’ve worked hard to create a programme that will provide girls with opportunities to develop and challenge themselves, both as cricketers and as individuals.”

Sophie Luff – Women & Girls Head Coach, Somerset Cricket Board
