Somerset Cricket Board are in the early stages of planning our strategy for cricket in the county between 2020 and 2024.
To ensure the plan meets the needs of players and volunteers, we are running some Focus Groups where we can hear the views and opinions of those involved in the game across the county.
We want cricket to be a game for everybody and therefore we are seeking to get thoughts from a wide variety of individuals involved at different levels and in varying areas of the game. We would also like to have individuals involved in the Focus Groups who have recently left the game.
We will fund travel to the venue and provide refreshments during the session, all we ask for is 90 minutes of your time and crucially, your thoughts!
Details on the Focus Groups, including how to make yourself available are below:

Player Focus Groups

We want a diverse group of approximately 20 male and female players of various ages (16+) and abilities at each Focus Group, with a mix of:
• Core players – play 12+ games a season
• Occasional players – play between 3 and 11 games a season
• Cameo players – play 1 or 2 games a year
• Lapsed players – not played in a team in the past year
We will be seeking views on the game in Somerset and what it could look like in 2024 to enable people to say ‘cricket is a game for me’.
South session, 11th July, 5:30pm – 7pm. The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.
or
North session, 17th July, 5:30pm – 7pm. Woodsprings Golf Club, Long Ashton.
If you are willing to come to an evening and help us shape our strategy please complete our offer of attendance form.

Club Volunteer Focus Groups

We want to speak to people who volunteer at clubs in any shape or form. A diverse mix of people, from those who have senior roles at clubs through to occasional helpers. It is important that we have a mix of sexes, ages and roles at clubs so please put yourself forward regardless of how big or small your role may be.
Recruiting, supporting and developing volunteers is likely to play a significant part in our new strategy and speaking to those who are currently doing these roles will help us significantly to ensure the strategy meets the needs of volunteers and clubs in Somerset.
South session, 11th July, 7:30pm – 9pm. The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.
or
North Session, 17th July, 7:30pm – 9pm. Woodsprings Golf Club, Long Ashton.
