Tournaments for all age groups

We run a number of competitions and festivals for all ages and abilities from Reception to Year 10. These run from January to July and include indoor and outdoor and hardball and softball opportunities. These competitions provide the opportunity to both enjoy participating, but to also play in a competitive format. Some competitions progress to Regional and National Finals. Fixtures are either played at schools or local cricket clubs.

INDOOR COMPETITIONs U13 & U15

BOYS & GIRLS

The indoor cricket competitions take place from January to March every year and are open to Middle, Secondary and Independent Schools in Somerset.

The Girl’s competition (open to all schools in Somerset) is split into a state school section and independent school section. Through local round robin competitions the top 2 teams from each section will play in the County Final.

The Boys Indoor Premier League (ILP) is for state schools only and consists of a local round robin competition with 3 or 4 schools, followed by either a North or South area playoff with the top 2 teams from the north and the south meeting in the County Final. All County Finals take place at the Centre of Excellence, CA County Ground Taunton.

The U12 Boys, U13 Girls and U15 Boys and Girls Chance to Compete softball competitions will take place during the summer term. The competitions are 8-a-side and are open to all middle and secondary state schools in Somerset.

The English Schools Cricket Association (ESCA) Under 11 – Under 15’s hardball competitions, including an Under 13 girls competition, are open to for primary, middle and secondary schools in both the state and independent sectors and take place during the summer term.

KEY STAGE 1 FESTIVALS

BOYS & GIRLS

During the summer there will be a number of Key Stage 1 Festivals that schools in Somerset can attend. These festivals will take place at local cricket clubs and will either be run in small clusters, where schools can bring a whole class, or SGO regions where schools can bring up to 12 pupils.

The festivals will involve a number of activities that pupils will rotate around practising their batting, bowling, fielding and teamworking skills. The festivals are a fantastic opportunity for pupils to practise their skills but to also visit a local cricket club and find out how they can continue playing through All Stars Cricket.

DYNAMOS SCHOOLS COMPETITIONS

BOYS & GIRLS

Dynamos Schools Cricket Competitions involve a fully inclusive game where the emphasis is on participation and enjoyment. It is specifically tailored for children up to the age of 11 and the Somerset Cricket Foundation run three ECB backed Dynamos Schools Cricket competitions from May to July each year. These competitions are open to state primary and middle schools throughout England and Wales and there are school competitions for Small Schools, Large Schools and Girls.

Building on the success of Kwik Cricket, Dynamos Schools has been designed to deliver an exciting new brand of competition connecting to the elite via The Hundred. Dynamos Schools introduces children to the countdown cricket format and provides a consistent experience across schools and clubs. Each team has eight players (both girls and boys) and bats for 40 balls. All players get to bowl 5 balls. Games are played with a plastic bat and ball.
