Season creeping up on us. Time to refresh? Like to meet and discuss with others what may be best practice?
The Groundsman’s Association are holding 2 similar workshops in two parts of the County and invite Clubs to send one or more members for a discussion with practical demos (weather permitting.)
Aimed at those who may be relatively inexperienced or trained quite some time ago, the intention is to offer advice, see what can reasonably be expected perhaps on a limited budget and with limited resources. This is not meant to exclude anyone but hopefully to encourage those who would like some support. Anyone more experienced will be welcome to help offer advice and knowledge on the day.
Content to include: pre-season rolling, basic square and outfield maintenance before the season, match pitch preparation, pitch repairs, machinery setting and maintenance, looking ahead to renovations.
Any attendees with other items they would like to see discussed at this time please let us know beforehand if possible and we will add them to the agenda.
In addition, anyone with a mower or other machinery they would like to ask about who can bring them along please do so. There will be several at the venue for practical demonstration.
Where and when are the workshops?
The first of these workshops will be in the North of the County at Harptree Villages CC on Sunday 24th March at 10.30 expecting to last for about 90 mins. The second workshop will take place on Sunday 14th April at Long Sutton CC again starting at 10.30am lasting about 90mins.
How do I book to attend?
To book your place for the 24th March or 14th April please contact Matt Counsell on matthew.counsell@somersetcricketboard.org by Thursday 21st March or Thursday 11th April. There will be no charge except that a small donation towards tea / coffee may be asked for.
