We’re delighted to announce the flagship Somerset Cricket Foundation KO Cup Competitions launches for 2022 to the club network, in partnership with Somerset County Sports.
The introduction of new competition branding, coloured clothing & pink ball usage for the Major Cup sees some enhancements to previous years, with all the finals again being played at The Copper Associates County Ground, Taunton.
Somerset County Sports have been a trusted partner with the Board/Foundation spanning many years, the local providers of cricket equipment and club merchandise, sees them become the premier partner to Somerset Cricket Foundation with a two-year agreement
Somerset Cricket Foundation Managing Director, Jon Bendle commented on the partnership by saying “Securing the ongoing support from Somerset County Sports as our main partner for the Cup Competitions is terrific. They are big supporters and providers for the recreational game here in Somerset, and we look forward to working with them closely.”
In 2021 63 clubs and 100 teams participated in the competition, and finals day was live streamed for the first time, racking up 20,000 views, a strong indication of how popular and well supported our cup competitions are. “SCS supported the Cricket Board for many years and are now happy to support the Foundation in supporting all three Cup competitions” said Richard Brice, owner of SCS.
The finals will be held at The Coopers Associates County Ground on Sunday 21st August.

It’s hugely exciting to announce the news that the final of the Vitality U19 Club Competition will be played at The Coopers Associates County Ground, under floodlights for the first time.
This is an amazing opportunity for the teams involved to experience what it’s like to play on a first class wicket that normally only professionals get to play on. We are hoping this will be the first of many U19s finals held at the County Ground, and will be the added incentive clubs need to enter teams.
In 2021 25 teams entered the U19s competition, and 8 teams progressed to play in the finals day held jointly at Weston-super-Mare Cricket Club and Uphill Castle Cricket Club. Group stages will take place as in previous years, but this time the top two teams from each group will play quarter-finals before progressing to the semi-finals, culminating in the final at the County Ground on Monday 22nd August, 6.30pm

We have seen a gap in the market, between u15s and u19s, for those players who maybe aren’t ready for open age cricket, or just want more time in the middle. It will be a hundred ball competition, but the structure will be finalised depending on the number of clubs who enter.
Please fill out the expression of interest form by Friday 11th March so we can get planning for another successful competition in Somerset.
