Somerset Disabled CC Dragons played their opening fixture of the season against Gloucestershire on a very hot day at Ilton Cricket Club.
After winning the toss, Somerset elected to bat first. With several new players making their debut this season, the batting pairs were mixed throughout the innings to give everyone an opportunity to contribute and gain valuable match experience.
Somerset produced a positive batting display and finished their 16 overs on a total of 246.
In response, Gloucestershire kept the game competitive throughout and the match remained tight heading into the final batting pair. Gloucestershire eventually finished on 267 to secure the victory in what proved to be an entertaining and closely fought contest.
Despite the result, it was a strong opening performance from Somerset, with the team taking away plenty of positives and valuable lessons to build on ahead of their next fixture.
