After snow forced the inaugural South West Ground Maintenance Day to be postponed the Somerset Cricket Foundation are please to announce they once again partnered with leading turf care providers within the industry to deliver this exciting event in 2024.

Aimed at all ground persons involved in cricket grounds preparation – from grassroots recreational clubs, to educational and commercial providers – this event has something for everyone.

Followed by group workshop throughout the day which all attendees will complete:

Workshop 1: Matt Gresty – DFL (MM & Designer), Sales and Marketing Manager – “Grass seed from the field to the cricket square”.

An engaging presentation that covers; Grass Seed Production – where does it all start; Grass seed technology where does a new variety come from; Grasses and seed for cricket; and finally getting the most from your grass seed when renovating.

Workshop 2: Liam Rowlands – ICL Growing Solutions, Key Accounts Manager Southern England & Wales – “What goes into a bag of fertiliser” and the latest EU fertiliser regulations every Groundsperson should understand.

Workshop 3: Jason Briggs – Sisis, Sales Manager –The key equipment and machinery any groundsperson needs to produce a good quality wicket, from the village green to the 1st Class game

Workshop 4: Nick Pepper (Somerset CCC) and Sean Williams (Gloucestershire CCC) – Pitch Preparation, an inside look on how two 1st Class Groundspeople go about their business, including a view in the equipment shed!

Workshop 5: Phil Jeggo & Market Stallholders – An informal networking session hosted by Grounds Management Association (GMA), Regional Pitch Advisor. Any turf topic is up for discussion. Joining this session, are Agrovista Amenity, Stuart Canvas Ltd, UES, Poweroll & Scoreboards Online will be available to speak with.
