Young participants from Somerset Cricket Foundation’s Street Cricket programme enjoyed a memorable day at the Cooper Associates County Ground when they were invited to form the Guard of Honour for Somerset Women ahead of their Vitality Blast fixture against Warwickshire.
The Street Cricketers proudly lined the boundary edge and welcomed the players onto the field, creating a fantastic atmosphere as Somerset Women prepared for one of their biggest home matches of the season.
For many of the young people involved, it was a special opportunity to experience professional cricket up close and to be part of the matchday celebrations. The players thoroughly enjoyed meeting the Somerset team and cheering them on throughout the afternoon.
It certainly seemed to bring Somerset Women some luck, as they produced an outstanding performance to secure a convincing victory over Warwickshire.
The event highlighted the important role that cricket can play in bringing communities together and inspiring the next generation of players and supporters.
