New Inclusive Cricket Programme to Launch

Super 1s

In partnership with the Lord Taverners, Somerset Cricket Board will be delivering more inclusive cricket opportunities for young people in Somerset.  The programme, Super 1s, will see sessions targeted at young people with a mild or moderate learning difficulties, or young people with a physical disability aged 12-25.

Super 1 sessions will engage young people in cricket on a weekly basis.  The sessions will not only improve an individual’s cricketing ability, but also their social and lifelong learning skills.  In addition, a big element of Super 1s is competition.  With multiple Super 1 session across the County, we hope to bring them all together on regular occasions so they can ‘compete’ against other hubs!  We hope that this regular experience will also help provide hub identity and strong community!  In addition, we hope to recognise young people’s attendance and commitment to their weekly session by giving out T-shirts for their attendance at a set number of sessions.    Sessions incur no cost to the participant.

Volunteers

In addition to the above, we also have the ability to support volunteers who want to get involved through our Coach Support Worker cricket courses,  a potentially great course for a keen parent or carer!

Super 1 Locations

So far we have the following sessions looking to Launch in January 2019; (We will launch sessions in the Mendip area at some point) The Super 1s sessions will run the academic year and sessions incur no cost to the participant.
