Over the last 12 months, Somerset has witnessed a tremendous growth not only in participation in the women and girls’ section, but also in the development of female coaches, umpires and scores.

With a commitment to growing and diversifying the volunteer workforce across the county, and to support this growing movement, the Foundation has arranged a series of upcoming events for women who wish to get involved in these three areas of the game.

Women’s introduction to scoring and umpiring

  • Monday, 20th February: 6:30pm – 9:30pm, (Weston-super-Mare CC)
  • Thursday, 16th February: 6:30pm – 9:30pm (The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton)

These course will be an ideal opportunity for Women to get a better understand off umpiring and scoring and will be able to provide more opportunity of additional opportunities of anyone who is looking at taking there umpiring and scoring further.

We already have over 40 women signed up to these events and it would be amazing to have even more ladies in attendance. There will be an expert female scorer and umpire leading this course who will provide insight into what it takes to be an umpire and scoret.

Women’s Coaches Networking Event

  • Monday, 13th February: 6:15pm – 9:15pm (The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton & online)

The event is open to all female coaches to support the development of coaches in Somerset. We will have an open workshop discussing some of the barriers to coaching and will be looking at some practices to help development players at your club. We will also be sharing case studies of female coaches in our network.
