Somerset Cricket Foundation’s newly formed Walking Cricket Indoor League got underway on Friday 15th December at the Indoor Centre at the CACG.

The four Walking Cricket hubs entered are: Taunton, Yeovil, Highbridge and Weston Super Mare.

Walking cricket follows the rules of indoor cricket with some nuances.  However, in simple terms the format is eight a side – four pairs batting for four overs each in the 16 overs games per innings.

Each team start with 200 runs on board and five runs is deducted for the loss of a wicket. Runs/extras scored accordingly are added to the final total.

Steve Gass, Community Programme Manager said

It was a great to be able to provide a competitive opportunity for our walking cricket hubs and to allow some players the chance to compete again when many of them thought there competitive days were long behind them!  All the games were played in the right spirit and it’s wonderful to see this community forming.
