Somerset Disabled CC S9 secure victory against Dorset Cricket Disability S9s

Somerset Disabled CC S9 started their 2026 campaign with an impressive victory over Dorset Cricket Disability S9s at Ilton Cricket Club, winning by 3 wickets in a closely contested fixture.

Dorset won the toss and elected to bat first, posting 185-8 from their 26 overs. Somerset’s bowlers worked hard throughout the innings, with Kris leading the attack with outstanding figures of 3-16, supported by Cameron (2-19) and Sebastian (2-40). Dorset’s innings was built around contributions from Joshua (32), Andrew (33), and Leon (27), but Somerset’s disciplined bowling kept the total within reach.

In reply, Somerset chased down the target with 186-7 from 29.1 overs. After a challenging start, the innings was stabilised by Alex (35) and wicketkeeper George (20 not out), before a match-winning partnership between Toby (16) and Cameron, who produced a brilliant unbeaten 50 from just 14 balls, including six fours and four sixes.

The result was sealed with Somerset reaching the target with five balls remaining, securing a strong opening win and a maximum 30 league points.

A fantastic team performance with contributions across batting, bowling and fielding, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.


Somerset Disabled CC D40 defeat Cricket Wales Disability in high-scoring contest

Somerset Disabled CC D40 produced an excellent all-round performance to defeat Cricket Wales Disability by 33 runs in an entertaining National Disabled Cricket League fixture at Sudbrook CC.

Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Somerset posted an impressive 230 all out from 40 overs. The innings was anchored by an outstanding unbeaten Jacob (75), who struck 12 fours and a six during a composed innings. He was well supported by Oli (38), Jack (44) and Jack (31) as Somerset built a strong total.

Cricket Wales responded positively, with Rhodri (62) and Rhys (62) leading the challenge. However, Somerset’s bowling attack continued to take wickets at key moments, with Joe producing an excellent spell of 4-11, supported by Charlie (3-15) and Jack (1-31). Cricket Wales were eventually bowled out for 197 in the 36th over.

The victory secured Somerset the maximum 30 league points and highlighted the strength and depth of the squad, with important contributions from both bat and ball.
