ECB CORE COACH

Lead coaching sessions independently and without supervision

This course is ideal for learners who have previous cricket or coaching experience and are looking to coach on a regular basis at their club or school.

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTOR

This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver cricket sessions that are active, purposeful, enjoyable and safe, covering key themes like:

  • Role of an ECB Core Coach
  • icoachcricket
  • Player-centred planning process
  • Player development
  • Core principles – batting, bowling (pace and spin), fielding and wicketkeeping
  • Tactical, physical and mental skills
  • Coaching tools
  • Practice types
  • Differentiation

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Eight face-to-face modules lasting 3 hours each

Two on course observed coaching opportunities

Six e-learning modules

Online multiple-choice question paper

TO ACHIEVE CERTIFICATIONS, LEARNERS MUST:

  • Be 18 years of age (learners can book a place if they are 17 on the first day of the course)
  • Hold a valid ECB Disclosure and Barring Service check
  • Hold a valid ECB safeguarding training e.g. Safeguarding for Coaches & Activators
  • Successfully complete the online multiple choice question paper achieving at least 80%
  • Attend all face-to-face modules
  • Be marked competent in the observed coaching sessions

COST & BURSARIES

£300

A bursary can be awarded to learners that register on the ECB Core Coach programme between 1st February 2024 and 31st January 2025. Bursaries are available to the potential coaches that are female, from ethnically diverse communities, have a disability or are experiencing financial hardship. WEPL, SCL, T&DYCL AND NSYCL also offer bursaries to clubs qualifying new coaches.
