ECB FOUNDATION COACH

Your first step on the coaching pathway

The ECB Foundation Coach is a two-day course ideal for prospective coaches, team managers and volunteers who are looking to take their first step on the coaching pathway. Learners will explore what coaching looks like, the impact you can have as an ECB Foundation Coach, the skills you can help players to develop and how you can learn from your experiences. An ECB Foundation Coach will be qualified to lead coaching sessions independently and without supervision.

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTOR

This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to deliver cricket sessions that are active, purposeful, enjoyable and safe, covering key themes like

  • Role of an ECB Foundation Coach
  • What does coaching look like?
  • Using icoachcricket
  • Coaching fielding, bowling and batting
  • Foundation principles – fielding, bowling and batting
  • The coaching tools
  • Differentiation

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Four face-to-face modules lasting 3 hours each

Three on course observed coaching sessions

Seven e-learning modules lasting 10-15 minutes each

Complete one online multiple-choice question paper

TO ACHIEVE CERTIFICATIONS, LEARNERS MUST:

  • Be 18 years of age (learners can book a place if they are 17 on the first day of the course)
  • Hold a valid ECB Disclosure and Barring Service check
  • Hold a valid ECB safeguarding training e.g. Safeguarding for Coaches & Activators
  • Successfully complete the online multiple choice question paper achieving at least 70%
  • Attend all face-to-face modules
  • Be marked competent in the observed coaching sessions

COST & BURSARIES

£150

A bursary can be awarded to learners that register on the ECB Foundation Coach programme between 1st February 2024 and 31st January 2025. Bursaries are available to the potential coaches that are female, from ethnically diverse communities, have a disability or are experiencing financial hardship. WEPL, SCL, T&DYCL AND NSYCL also offer bursaries to clubs qualifying new coaches.
