Umpires play a crucial role in our game

It really is the ‘best seat in the house’ and whether you want to umpire at your club or have aspirations to umpire the professional game, the umpire pathway will help you develop at your own pace and umpire at the standard of cricket you want to umpire at.

PROGRAMME DESCRIPTOR

This course is designed to give new umpires the key skills, knowledge and confidence to stand as an umpire in cricket. No prior experience of umpiring in cricket is required before attending the course.

Whether you plan to support Junior Softball cricket through to adult cricket, this course will cover the following topics:

  • Understanding the role of the umpire
  • Gain a basic understanding of umpiring the game
  • Answering appeals and the common methods of dismissal
  • How to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the game
  • Judging whether or not it is safe to play
  • Laws of Cricket

COST: £70

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Six hours face to face module blending classroom learning and practical work

Online Laws of Cricket

TO ACHIEVE CERTIFICATIONS, LEARNERS MUST:

  • Be at least 14 years of age
  • Hold a valid ECB DBS
  • Hold a valid ECB Safeguarding for Umpires & Scorers
  • Successfully complete the online Laws of Cricket multiple choice questions paper
