Cricket needs more umpires and scorers.
We want to inspire and develop the next generation of volunteers by supporting players aged 14 – 18 from our club network with the opportunity to develop their umpiring and scoring skills. That’s why the Somerset Cricket Foundation is working with Somerset Association of Cricket Officials (SACO) and Somerset CCC Pathway to deliver umpire and scorer training to young volunteers in the club network.

About the training
The training will be delivered by a team of SACO mentors, including Darren Taylor, Yvonne Dolphin-Cooper, Simon Pilgrim, George Preston, Bob Hampshire and Cecilia Szczepanski, all who have extensive knowledge and experience as cricket officials. Once the training is complete, those wishing to volunteer further will be given access to opportunities including youth fixtures within their own clubs, SCF Bradfords Festivals, SCCC Pathway fixtures, and experience days at the King’s Cricket Festival. The mentors will remain available to support our young officials throughout the cricket season and beyond.
