Somerset Cricket Foundation were delighted to part of the Somerset Diverse Communities Yeovil Together event at the Westlands Entertainment and Sport Centre on Sunday 14th July 2024.
Due to the unavailability of the main Yeovil CC pitch; an Indoor wind ball 8 a side event was organised between the Yeovil Panthers, Yeovil Tigers and Yeovil Titans using the Westlands Sports Centre. The intention was to play a three-way competition but due to time constraints only two games were possible.
The Titans and Tigers are social cricketers who enjoying outdoor tape ball matches and are of Bangladeshi heritage.
The Panthers are also social cricketers who enjoy playing hardball cricket and have a connection of with West Coker and Hardington CC. The group that played the Indoor event were of Indian and Pakistani heritage.
Game one – Panthers v Tigers (Each pair bats for 15 balls and loss of wicket equates minus 5 runs).
Tigers won the toss and batted first.

The games were of high energy and intensity with some fabulous batting, bowling and fielding skills on display. Everyone really appreciated the opportunity to participate despite not being able to play outdoor. SCF looks forwards to supporting the event next year and are keen to support the development of a winter cricket programmes in the Yeovil areas incorporating ideas from the stakeholders.
