Somerset Disabled CC D40 produced an excellent all-round performance on Sunday, beating Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation D40 by 108 runs in their National Disabled Cricket League D40 Pursuit fixture.

The game was hosted at the iconic Cooper Associates County Ground, providing a fantastic setting for an important fixture in the Somerset Disabled CC season.

After winning the toss, Gloucestershire elected to field, but Somerset made the most of the opportunity, posting an impressive 284 for 5 from their 40 overs.

Nick led the way with an excellent 76 from 92 balls, hitting 11 fours, while Oli continued the momentum with a superb 75 from just 61 balls, including 10 fours and a six.

Zach then added another outstanding contribution, making 76 from 50 balls, with eight fours and a six, as Somerset accelerated towards a commanding total. James added 10, while Jack, Cameron, James, Joe and the rest of the team helped Somerset finish on 284.

Hamish was the pick of the Gloucestershire bowlers, claiming five wickets for just 30 runs from 7.5 overs.

In reply, Gloucestershire struggled to build momentum against a disciplined Somerset bowling attack. Joe produced an outstanding spell, taking four wickets for just eight runs from his eight overs, including four maidens. James also bowled superbly, taking two wickets for 18 runs.

Gloucestershire’s best resistance came from Oliver and Henry, who both scored half-centuries, making 51 and 55 respectively. However, regular wickets from the Somerset attack ensured that Gloucestershire were restricted to 176 for 8 from their 40 overs.

Somerset therefore secured an impressive 108-run victory, with a strong batting display followed by an excellent bowling and fielding performance.

The result was a fantastic reward for the team and highlights the strength and depth of Somerset’s D40 squad.

A special thank you must also go to Nick, the Head of Grounds, and Sarah and Austem from the Operations Team, whose support and hard work helped make it possible for this fixture to be played at the iconic Cooper Associates County Ground. Hosting the game at such a prestigious venue created a memorable experience for everyone involved and was hugely appreciated by the players, coaches and support team.
