Somerset Disabled CC produced their best team display of the season to complete a superb run chase to defeat Yorkshire CCC – Yorkshire Tykes Disability by three wickets in an exciting National Disabled Cricket League D40 Pursuit Finals contest at Chester Road Sports and Social Club, Kidderminster on Sunday.

Having won the toss, Somerset elected to field and Yorkshire made the most of a solid start, reaching 50 inside nine overs. Daniyal led the way with an impressive 68 from 71 balls, including seven fours and two sixes, while Dairen added a valuable 25.

Yorkshire continued to build their total despite regular wickets, eventually posting a competitive 200 for seven from their 40 overs. Lewis and Liam provided a strong finish, remaining unbeaten on 20 and 21 respectively.

Somerset’s bowling attack shared the workload, with Jacob the standout performer, taking three wickets for 25 runs from his seven overs. Luke also claimed two wickets, while Zach took one.

In reply, Somerset made a steady start before the innings was transformed by a brilliant partnership between wicketkeeper Oli and Zach . Oli was particularly dominant, racing to a superb 69 from just 55 balls, striking eight fours and three sixes.

Zach provided excellent support with 36 from 36 balls, including six boundaries, as the pair helped Somerset move through 100 and then 150 with the run chase firmly under control.

Yorkshire fought back with wickets, but Somerset’s lower order held their nerve. James contributed and excellent 16, while Joe smashed a very quick and unbeaten on 19 from just 17 balls.  With Monty alongside him, Joe saw Somerset home at 201 for seven after just 36.5 overs – three wickets in hand and 19 balls to spare.

The victory was built on an outstanding team performance and puts Somerset into the National Final against Middlesex on Sunday, 30th August.
