Somerset Disabled CC 263-9 (40 overs) beat Dorset Cricket 37 all out (12.4 overs) by 226 runs
Somerset Disabled CC produced a dominant all-round performance to secure a comprehensive 226-run victory over Dorset Cricket in their National Disabled Cricket League D40 Pursuit Southwest fixture at Childs Clarke Ground, Ilton.
After being asked to bat first, Somerset recovered from an early wobble to post an imposing 263-9 from their 40 overs. Dorset’s new-ball bowler Ed Boulton made an immediate impact, removing Nick Dean (12), Jacob Lunn (5) and Oli Dobrijevic (0) to leave Somerset struggling at 21-2 and then 34-3.
However, wicketkeeper Zach Webber led the recovery with an outstanding unbeaten 81 from just 49 balls, striking 13 fours and three sixes. He found support from James Mayled, who contributed 23, before Jack Smith launched a powerful counterattack. Smith smashed 62 from 56 deliveries, including 12 boundaries, sharing a crucial partnership with Webber that transformed the innings.
James Redwood added a patient 19, while Jamie Turner chipped in with 9 late on as Somerset accelerated towards a formidable total. Dorset were also hampered by 44 extras, including 19 wides.
For Dorset, Boulton was the standout performer with 4-36 from his eight overs, while Tom Best claimed 2-41.
Faced with a daunting target, Dorset’s batting line-up never recovered from a disappointing start. Joe Hooper struck first to remove Tyronne Whittle without scoring before Somerset’s bowlers ripped through the middle order.
Charlie May was particularly impressive, taking 3-4 from three overs, dismissing Tom Best, Stuart Newcombe and Joshua Courtenay. Luke Tucker matched those figures with 3-9, while Oli Dobrijevic added 1-9.
Dorset collapsed to 17-6 with only Leon Richer offering any resistance. Richer top-scored with 8, while Luke Marks contributed 7. Extras were Dorset’s highest contributor with 17, highlighting Somerset’s complete dominance.
The innings ended on 37 in just 12.4 overs, sealing a convincing Somerset victory and maximum league points.
